Now a different ball game for Zanu-PF

By Takarinda Gomo

FOR people who have suffered so much, for far too long, Zimbabweans should be forgiven for being apprehensive. They have no faith in the politics of their country because they have been let down many, many times. Even this new Sadc initiative led by South African President Jacob Zuma is already being dismissed as hot air.

Tsvangirai took a terrifying gamble

By Mary Ndlovu
A SEASON of fear has returned to Zimbabwe and it is unlikely that the patchwork performed on the fraying coalition government will reverse its impact, at least not in the short run.
Unlawful arrests, abductions, beatings, torture, burning of homes and yes, killings too, by Zanu-PF and state agents, are again on the increase. The instigators bare their claws, threatening terror for anyone who dares to oppose them. SADC sets deadline – or does it?

The MDC are saying that they are happy with the SADC Summit and that Mugabe has a 30 day deadline to implement the GPA.

The SADC communiqué arrived late Friday and having read it, it is unclear how Prime Minister Tsvangirai and his delegation have arrived at this conclusion.

The SADC communique does not actually state that there is a deadline for the implementation of the GPA. It says: ‘The parties should engage in dialogue in order to find a lasting solution to the outstanding issues towards the full implementation of the GPA’.
