Today (07-06-2011) at around 11 am and later during the day, officers from the Law and Order Harare central visited the MDC Headquarters looking for Youth Assembly leadership. In particular: The National Youth Chairman Solomon Madzore and the national youth Secretary General Promise Mkwananzi. The assembly also has it on record that they left a letter at the residence of Solomon Madzore requesting him to report at the nearest police station.

The MDC Youth Assembly is greatly shocked by the way the Zimbabwe Republic Police carry out its investigations. This is a clear testimony of the extent of desperation within the police force. The assembly questions why the violence in Mbare and other areas, including the bombing of Tendai Biti`s residence has not been investigated with equal diligence. As a party we have already made our position clear that the police must be very professional and serious in their investigations on this and other pending matters by instituting a non biased investigation for all cases of violence including of Mbare, Cashel valley in Chimanimani east as well as the 2008 mass killings and torture.

This is a calculated measure by the police to pre-mutually silence the young voice of the party of excellence. The MDC youth assembly reiterates its call for Commissioner Augustine Chihuri to shape up or ship out. It is unacceptable for the most senior police officer in the land to act as a ZANU PF spy. As the MDC Youth Assembly, we remain resolute and focused in addressing and advocating for a better Zimbabwe.
